Helicopter Spirals Out of Control into Palm Trees at Well-Known California Shoreline

An aircraft flying over a crowded southern California beach abruptly commenced twirling out of control, eventually dropping height and crashing into a row of palm groves as beachgoers observed.

Videos uploaded online depict the helicopter starting to spin near the shoreline then descending near the edge of the shore, where it becomes wedged among palms and a steps close to the shoreline route.

Emergency Response Information

The Huntington Beach fire department said five people were rushed to the hospital comprising two who were in the helicopter and were “extracted safely from the crash site” following the accident on the weekend.

Three persons on the road were harmed. Information on their condition were not yet released.

What led to the incident was not immediately released.

The department indicated the aircraft was linked to an yearly “Cars N Copters” fundraising event scheduled for Sunday.
